I grew up in the Peterborough area and I raise my family here. I truly believe there is no other location as beautiful and friendly as the Kawarthas!
I have worked in both the mental health and education career fields and I am a former teacher & realtor. After years of teaching and other professions as I raised my children, I returned to the mental health field. Many years ago, I provided addictions counselling in the local community. I learned my passion and skills are best served working individually with others or in small groups.
My qualifications include a Bachelor of Science in Psychology at Trent University, a Bachelor of Arts in Education at Brock University, a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University, and also a diploma in Drug and Alcohol Counselling at Sir Sandford Fleming College. I am a Registered Psychotherapist in the province of Ontario through CRPO (Registration # 007591). Most recently I provided psychotherapy to students at Trent University, as well as Lakefield College School.
Today, you can find me working out of my office in Lakefield. I serve clients from the Kawartha Lakes Region, Peterborough, Lakefield and beyond. I offer my psychotherapy services both online & in-person.
My approach in psychotherapy is based on your needs and situation and is customized to best suit you. We can discuss what may be most effective and jointly embark on your personal journey together. I am an eclectic psychotherapist, often combining methods as necessary.
I am trained in:
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy
Solution Focused Techniques
Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction
I offer a no cost initial 30 minute phone consultation to determine if we are a good fit. This call is a chance for me to get to know you and what your needs are, and also for you to get a sense of who I am and whether you would feel comfortable working with me.
